A decaying old storehouse is repaired and remodeled into a bathhouse.
Pillars is spliced at the base by chestnut, and tsuchikabe is repainted. Japanese cypress for the wainscot and duckboards surround the bathhouse. When you soak in the three-tatami mat size bathtub jointed together squared timbers of Japanese cypress and look up the roof, the silent space that cut off from the world around you is relaxing and healing you both mind and body. |
